New 110 BA

Old Navy

Gold $$ Contributor
I have been trying for several years to get my son interested in long range shooting and precision reloading. He called a couple days ago to tell me he just got his new Savage 110 BA in .300 Win Mag. We took it to the range today to start the break in routine. I was a little reluctant to shoot it because I frankly do not like recoil. I still remember sighting in a couple Model 70s in this caliber many years ago. I set him up on my BR rest and rear bag. I could tell watching the gun recoil that this was a different breed of cat. I decided to try it. I was sure surprised how good the brake worked. I have been belted harder by .270s, 06s etc. I think we will have a lot of fun together this summer. Later! Frank

I shoot the same rifle in .338 Lapua mag with 300gr bullets, and was astounded at how little it recoils - about the same as an 7 1/2 to 8 lb .308 Win. Fortunately, I had been warned that the brake amplifies sound just as well as it reduces recoil.... ;D Of course it doesn't hurt that the beast weighs 15.75 lbs before you slap the bipod and the scope on it.

Enjoy.
