New 109gr Berger hybrid

Looks like they’ll work in my application. 8 twist Krieger brx at 2980fps and 2000’ elevation. 417C59FC-311E-46E2-8DE9-BDDCF390B72F.jpeg
Just loaded up 5 and shot at 150 along with 5 smks and 5 scenars. No load dev on the Bergers just put em 10 thou in the lands and used my smk load of 32.2 Varget.
Ill shoot them at 300 (farthest for my back yard) in a few days just to verify.
The smk and scenar are tuned to the best of my ability so even though the Bergers were the largest group they were just loaded and shot.

I have a few of them to test after the Hollidays. I am no ballistician, but these 109 Hybrid bullets look very similar to my very good (great) shooting old lot of 105 Hybrids. They have a bearing surface about 12 thou longer than the old 105 Hybrids. The new 109’s are very well pointed. The entire bullet is not some wild new radical shape or anything. I see absolutely no need for a new reamer or throat for these bullets. I am always weary and hesitant of new bullets, buy these look like they will perform like the old Hybrids and have a slightly better BC! I have high hopes for it. It should work as a direct replacement for the old Hybrid as Berger says. Samuel Hall

Sam, you want to see a nice factory bullet measure the new Hornaday A tip. the first outing, found seating depth and and it shot an .021 @100 then I started up on powder and and found a good spot at 2911 and ES. of 1..... jim

if you dont mind, are you jumping or jamming?.....I did some testing and kept getting split groups, I tried both .005 and .010 jump....thanks

Started in at a square mark and backed out .002 at a time, .... jim
@johara1
What twist barrel are you using with the A-Tips?
And let us know how they stand up at distance when the time comes, if you would.
Happy Holidays

D, one more thing I never had an ES. over 6, I know it will hammer at 1000. The last group was two from one condition and two from a 180 in the opposite condition with the same point of aim and they shot a .150 hole. I think the barrels ok..... jim

Their site lists the bearing surface as .431, which is .089 longer than the listed 105 hybrid and .105 longer than the regular VLD.

Seems to be a significant difference.

Ladder test some what.
After receiving a little bit of advice from Donovan Moran on how to do a ladder test didn't Color My Bullets well enough but here's what I found on the new 109 Berger hybrid.
I shot this at 300 yards starting at 30.8 up to 31.4 grains of Hodgdon 4895.
Velocity was from 2910 up to 2976 sorry I couldn't determine the actual impact of the colored bullets but the last one at 31.4 is indicated on the target.
I am shooting them .0005 off the land's.
P.S. I am using the controversial 6br Peterson brass blowed out to my 6Bra+025 thousands long case.

I had very good results with a 7.83 twist Brux Barrels with the 103 -108 and now it seems the 7 twist I stayed away from is working good with the 110 class bullets.... jim
