New 100mm spotting scope

Just found this one.

http://www.adorama.com/KOS100.html?searchinfo=konus&item_no=1

Never heard of Konus before. Their spotter #7122 is advertised as 20-60X and 100mm, 45 degree eyepiece; priced at $329. Found two favorable posts, one claiming it beats a Leupold, big deal), and bullet holes are sharp at 300 yards. Of course, its made in China; 19" long, 84 oz., a little lighter than Pentax.

For the money, I might try it. Does anyone know how it performs at longer ranges and in adverse conditions? What kind of warranty? Any problems known?

Thanks guys; I ran a search earlier and read both articles. BTW, Jim Owens, jarheadtop) price is $15 above Champions Choice,$210) and that is for the 80mm scope. I am only interested in the new Konus 100mm. Lookin for someone who has purchased one, although they are brand new, so this could be a problem.

Thanks Froggy. Will the 80mm read bullet holes out to 500 in most normal conditions??? Why will it resolve better than the 100mm scope?

With any scope it will be hard to resolve bullet holes at 500 yards. I once had a Kowa 821 and a lot of times I would have a hard time to resolve with it at 200 yards. Light conditions have to be perfect to see beyond 200 yards.. the only time I have ever seen bullet holes beyond 200 was at Perry.. and then the light conditions were good and I was able to see 223 holes at 300 yards. YMMV. The reports out on the Konus scopes is that the 80mm is as just about as good for the price as compared to the Kowa 821. But most of the fellows that have gotten the 100mm scope ended up selling them.. that tells me something in it's own..I am basing my opinion on what is bought and kept vs. what is bought and sold! I have looked through the Konus 80mm scope and I can say that I am impressed! I was really considering getting one of the 100mm scopes when OpticsPlanet had them on sale for 199.00 but after much research I decided against it. I am currently using a Unertl 24x60 scope. But would not mind having a backup to it. I used to have a Kowa 821 but it was stolen. I don't feel that I will spend that kind of money on a scope again.

Look at www.nationalmatch.us.com forum. They've had several clubs with multiple Konus,100 and 80mm) scopes and all say the 80's are better resolving and more fog-free. Also recommend Alpen as an alternative.
