Never thought I would get the chance

Wife gives me 4 each 25.00 gift cards that a vendor with the company she works for gave them and told me to buy something I needed as they expire end of May. Went to WalMart looking for 9mm cheap ammo to run in my recently purchased Hi Point carbine (What a HOOT that gun is) They got a brick of 500 Winchester rounds for 85.00. I'm in. I get a pack of vacuum cleaner bags she requested a few days ago to get me close to 100.00. You have to check out in the sporting goods section and the computer/register is just not liking those cards even with the head Customer Service guy trying to help. Decide to walk me up to the front cashier to see if things work better. Wait for this.
I put the brick on the conveyor belt and tell her to be careful, it's heavy. She picks it up, looks at it and then tells the customer service guy "that in California you have to have a yada yada license and a doby doby permit to buy ammo. He just looks at her in amazement. I ask her "you must be from CA?" and she says yes. I tell her this is TEXAS. She broke into a big grin and said "yes it is".
Finished the transaction and had 1.58 left on the card. I told here I still had a few items to pick up and she said when I get ready to check out come back to her register and we will finish using the card. I really appreciated her attitude and she's going to fit right in here in Texas.
Never thought I would get a chance to tell a California transplant that this is Texas. Kind of made by day and maybe hers too.:)

Is it OK for me to buy 9mm ammo and just get my wife vacuum cleaner bags?

Had pretty good day myself. Got out shooting this afternoon with friends. Stopped over by my Mom's. My mother is 90 years old and has $70,000 in her checking account. My parents were children of the Great Depression so they could never have enough money. Well she gave each of us $10,000. I spent mine quickly. I pay for my Grand daughters private schooling, pre K though high school. The check got me almost there. College fund next. My parents did quite well in life and I did also. The difference is, I have been handing out money to my adult children for years. My father died last year and they have a fair sized investment account. She is still worried about running out of money. This is the first time in my life I have ever been given a large amount of money or anything and I spent it fast. She loves school and is sad the school year is ending.

Riesel, did not mean to up stage you. Just could not resist relaying my good fortune.

jackson1, I always enjoy reading stories of caring and sharing. Today my Mom celebrates her 90th birthday. My parents were also of the depression and were not afraid of work and taught us the same. I started driving a farm tractor when I was six.

On the other end of the spectrum, back when I was a working stiff, a guy I worked with gave his wife his Christmas bonus and told her to get something she wants for Christmas. This guy was a real S.O.B. So I thought it was out of character to give his wife his bonus. Well, she took the bonus and hired a divorce lawyer.

I laughed out loud at this.
