Needing some AR-10 advice

There is some pretty good info on this post...one thing I am not completely clear on...if shooting good tight groups with an AR-10 is the goal what is the point of having an AR-10 if to get these good groups you have to jack around with loading them one at a time???
To shoot an NRA sanctioned match you play by their rules. To shoot an AR10 in a NRA sanctioned F-TR match you must single feed it. To compete in an F-TR match you damn well better be shooting 1/2 moa or better, two days straight in some pretty demanding conditions. This ain’t blasting 12” plates at 100 yards.

Well, I had said "I wasn't clear"...I think I am now. One guy says, "because we can" the other says, "it's the rules". I could be wrong, but it sounds like "the rules" is that if you choose to use a semi in a bolt guns game you are reduced to single feed it??? {must be some of that "because we can" stuff} There is no advantage to using the AR-10 platform over a bolt gun if you are limited to feeding single, in fact, to me, that is a disadvantage {unless an AR-10 is absolutely the only gun you own}. You "can" drive your car with your feet, if you want to. But that don't make it a good idea.

Both the bolt gun and the gas gun have to be single fed so what's the difference? Some bolt guns shoot like crap and some AR's shoot like crap. Some of either shoot lights out. So again, what's the difference other than your prefference?

Your groups look good, a couple things possibly that might help squeeze in that flyer for you.
Was your bolt matched to your barrel? AR10 parts are not mil spec'd like AR15's.
If your rifle does not have an adjustable gas system, I highly recommend it. You can turn the gas system off for load development, slowly turn it back on until bolt cycles reliably, and adjust load from there. This will definitely help in how hard the bolt slams back in AR10's, helps to keep pressure as uniform as possible.
Neck tension is also important keeping the bullet in place while cycling. Maybe try putting a couple rounds in the magazine ,shoot and measure some that have cycled before shooting. Annealing is a must with how much the brass grows.
I was surprised with my results using IMR3031 and CCI 200's. A load I pulled off Quickload gave immediate results.

Ok, yea; I'm with the others here. I guess I haven't kept up with this thread. I thought we were diagnosing fliers from a mag fed '10' platform. Single feeding a 10 for a NRA sanctioned F-t/r match is a bit different.

tell me how he opens the bolt with no gas ?
have you ever looked at the very small "cam" surface of an ar bolt ??
tuneable gas, off..not so much.
(ask me how I know !!!)
