Need to borrow/rent Ruger # 1 action wrench

Evening to ya,

I need to borrow/rent an action wrench for a good ol' Ruger numeral One.

Any body know where I might do so?

Thanks!

Tres

Tres, I used my action wrench with the bottom bar turned over to the flat side. Also, be sure to turn the recoil lug notch on the handle away from the front of the receiver. I just put a strip of .005" brass shimstock on each side of the receiver and gripped as far forward as possible. Snug up the bolts so that the wrench bars are perfectly flat on both sides against the receiver, then very carefully tighten them tight enough so they can't move or cock.

If you decide to do this, set it up and look at it first and then decide if you want to try it. I had to study it quite awhile before deciding to try it. I considered just fabricating a wrench for it, but this worked out for me. I don't know if it will work with any other wrench set, but it would seem like it.

Hope this helps, Tom

A buddy of mine has a bulldozer business, and he has some REALLY big tools. I have been so tempted to try his huge adjustable wrench with leather....

Thanks for the reply.

Remember to get that #1 extractor out of there before you start twisting.

You can make your own action wrench and then flip it over and just use the flat parts.
