Need to be fixed?

Kelbly Nanook action in an AG Composite stock with their bottom metal. Tip of the bullet gets a little hung up on the action when I feed the rounds. Part of the problem is the mag sits a little too low in the stock. Can this be fixed but more than that does it need to be fixed? I can get the rounds to chamber I’m just a little worried it might be damaging the tip of the bullet. Do I dare file down the ramp a little to allow the bullet to feed easier or would a different bottom metal allow the mag to seat higher?IMG_9843.jpeg

On my rimfire savage I had to ever so slightly bend the back part of the mag lips inward. This shoved the back of the case downward and allowed the tip of the bullet to aim up more. This may work for you also.

You can also slightly open up the front feed lips of the mag and it will allow the front to angle up. But don't get carried away or your round will prematurely pop out.

Personally I would start with pinching the back lips inward just a little.

Also, how well does the bottom metal fit the stock? Is it protruding a little around the edge of the bottom metal or is it flush with the stock?

If it's flush I wouldn't try to raise the mag any by setting the bottom metal deeper into the stock. If it sits proud then I would consider getting the bottom metal into the stock more in hopes it would also allow the mag to go in further.

Thanks for the help. Bottom metal fits perfectly in the stock so I don’t want to mess with that. If I pinch the rear of the mag I don’t think the bolt will pick up the round. I did open the front of the mag and that was a huge improvement. The tip of the bullet didn’t seem to come up much but there is much less resistance as it slides up the ramp. Beautiful. Thanks so much for the help!

By the picuture, seat the bullet deeper into the case, not sure how much but I would say the bullet is hitting the top of the chamber so the feed problem occurs?

You're very welcome. I'm glad it helped.
