Need some Quickloads Help Please

Case is a 223 case with a dry weight (including primer) of 97.96 grs, filled with water 128.12 grs
weight of the water is 30.16 grs.

With 2000MR powder, at a charge weight of 26.5 grs., Berger 90 VLD bullet, what would be the predicted velocity with a 30 inch barrel?

My laptop with quickload in it is at work but if I remember correctly it does not have 2000MR as a powder choice. Someone can correct me if I'm wrong.

QL has no powder file available for PP2000MR. You can try to fudge one up on your own. I'd suggest modifying RL17 or some similar double base powder file, if you really want to go that route. However, any results you get may be a little sketchy. With PP2000MR, it is probably much better to use traditional load development methods and actual measurements, rather than trying to base things on predictions made using QL. JMHO.

Understand what your saying and agree with you, but in this instance, "trying to base things on predictions made using QL" isn't the case this time..

With no file for the powder you specifiy. Can't get an answer.

Not a bad setup though.

Not knowing the characteristics of PP2000MR I can not say if you will achieve your 2850 goal. That velocity appears to be reachable with several other powders.

i totally understand what your typing here.. but i can tell you that the current lot of H4895 is too hot for the chamber.. RL15 and 2000MR are the only other powders i have.. RL15 has not proven to provide a good load, 2000MR has. i have used this powder before.. i guess what i am trying to figure is, a previous load i used was 27.2 grs of 2000MR, V=2950, so in essence, i am trying to see if there is much difference between 7 tenths of a grain in speed. I know that it is all what "arbitrary". I will get a chance to run this load over a Magnetospeed V3 tomorrow..

Whether you're looking at pressure, velocity, or something else, every output made by QL is a prediction, every single one. Even the case dimensional and volumetric outputs are only approximations. I personally have found that once the program has been calibrated with a known charge weight and the predicted velocity adjusted to match the actual measured velocity using the powder burn rate (Ba), the predictions are usually very good, but they are still predictions. However, without a powder file the QL outputs are of little use. As I mentioned before, in that event the only useful approach is to shoot a ladder or OCW test, measure velocity, and look for the relevant groupings on the target. It's pretty much impossible to take advantage of the predictive capabilities of QL without a bona fide powder file. I'd be very surprised if there wasn't a significant difference in velocity with 0.7 gr less powder. But QL won't be of significant benefit in trying to predict that without a powder file for PP2000MR.

The tests have already been done.. i was just hoping that their might be a prediction that i could base my previous experiences upon.. but since 2000MR is not in the QL data base, then my query is moot isn't it!

Shoot one bullet over a chronograph then you know.

USMCDOC,

I've used VV N-550 as a substitute in QL for 80 grainers with less than your listed powder charge. Don't know how well it would work with 90s. 0.005 is usually considered to be in the lands when I set up QL.
