From this site.

The info on this site under the 223 tab is good.
It should be the first place to look.

7 twist Savage
Lapua brass
24.2 Varget
80.5 Berger Fullbore
FGMM primer

Just shot some 80.5 Berger full bores for the first time Friday.

26" 1:7 Benchmark 3-Groove
24.4 gr varget
Lapua Match Brass
BR-4 primers

Just took the Sierra "accuracy load" as a starting point and was able to shoot 5, 5 shot groups at 100 yards all measuring .240"-.310".

Should be able to adjust that load for even better groups but not bad for a SWAG.

For the record, there is more than loading data in those old fashioned printed forms of information.

My ground squirrel competition load is 25.9 gr H335 behind 50 gr Nosler Spitzers with excellent results out to 300 yards. I haven't taken it further than that. Only shooters I can't beat are the 6BR crowd.

Lapua Turned necks
BR 4
varget
80.5 Bergers
30" Broughton 1/7
I have shot out 2 barrels shooting F class and have used many different powders
Best being Varget,VT 150 & H 4895, don,t use any double base powers they are throat eaters and spike big time on hot days
Good conditions at 300 yards gun will shoot well under 1/2 moa

Getting load data for the .223 in forums can have adverse effects, .223 rifles have a large variation in twist rates and throat lengths. As an example my Savage .223 bolt action has a longer throat than either of my AR15 rifles so be careful.

HOLLIGER ON .223/5.56 CHAMBERS
http://www.radomski.us/njhp/cart_tech.htm

The 1 in 14 and 1 in 12 twist barrels can have the shortest throats.

Both the .223 and 5.56 NATO are loaded to the same exact same chamber pressure of 52,000 cup or 55,000 psi, BUT as you can see below the throat can cause 10,000 psi differences in chamber pressure.

Bottom line, workup your own loads and play it safe.

You point out one of the largest problems with .223 data from forums. Ask for a good load and get an answer. Unfortunately the recommended load was for the poster's bolt action and your rifle is a "gas gun" AR.

Even if the throats were exactly the same, the pressure issues can bite you.

FWIW, there is also another "Nato" chamber available. Specially designed "Nato Match" which is used in bolt actions and has less taper in the case body area yet the same longer throat like the Nato AR chamber.

Works great for heavy bullets that you want to push fast.

your rifle may not stabilize bullets heavier than 60 gr, I have a M70 factory 223 and it likes 55gr bullets. you should buy a box of several bullets in the 50 to 55 gr range, H335 does well with the 55's as well as IMR and H 4895. I would try flat base bullets as they are a good place to start.

You are going to be limited by the 12 twist. You won't get the heavier bullets to stabilize. I would think that the Sierra 69 gr Match King might or might not work for you as far as heavier bullets are concerned. I would recommend Varget and CCI 450's for a powder/primer combination.

The Military's found that the 1:12 won't even stablize the .62 gr bullets well, thus their hanging on to M-193 ammo.

I'd go the other way and shoot the super light Varmint bullets and watch prairie rats blow up in your scope.

A 52 grain match is most likely your best bet for stability in a 1-12. That limits your competition, at 300 you are shooting against higher BC loads and in windy conditions you can come close. At 100-200 you are shooting against the 6PPC, 30BR, again higher BC .

IMR 4198 Powder
Lapua Brass
Rem 71/2 primers
Nosler 52 grain custom competition bullets
