Need some help 6br longrange!

Hey Guys,

In two weeks i will take my 6br a day out for some longrange shooting.
Im going to shoot 600m - 1000m.

I want to try VV N150 behind the Lapua 6mm 105gr Scenar using Lapua 6mmbr brass and CCI Br4 primers

My Rifle is a Bat-mb 26" 6mmbr 1-8 twist.

Has anyone tryed this combination and what are some good loads for this?
Thx in advance!

I've never tried a Vihtavuori powder in my 6br or 6br dasher....the only way to really found out is to start low and work your way up in reasonable increments, and see how your accuracy and velocity work out.

For me, it's been Varget, H4895 and RL15 using Berger bullets, but give it a shot (lame pun intended) and let us know how it works out.

George

Check the stickey at the top of page on 6BR page. Favorite 6 BR loads. There are 5 pages and surely someone has used that powder. The most popular are Varget and Re 15. Matt

You might find the VV150 to be a scosch slow for the 105's, keep VV140 in mind, 31.4gr should get you low 2,800's. I don't have data for that exact bullet or primer.

Hey George.

I will let you know what it will do.

I shoot 105 Bergers in my 6mm BR and I've tried some slightly warm Vihtavuori N-140 loads which provide good precision just below 2800 fps. But I've had a little bit better precision using slightly warm loads of IMR 4895 in the high 2800's. I always use CCI 450 magnum primers because............. I've been told that everyone shooting 6mm BR uses them. ;)

6BR at 1000 yards?

You must be new here. From the 6mmBR section of this website (formerly known as 6mmBR.com):

6mmBR at Long Range–Beware Baney’s Giant Killer

Can the diminutive 6BR work at long range–even out to 1000 yards? You bet. Just ask Jason Baney, our 1000-yard Editor. In 2006, Jason shot his 16-lb Lowrider-stocked standard 6BR in the Heavy Gun Class at the Williamsport World Open. Competing against cartridges burning more than twice as much powder and rifles weighing up to 100 pounds, Jason’s little 6BR proved to be a giant killer–a David slaying the Goliaths. Jason won the Heavy Gun title, using the standard 6BR case and Clinch River 106gr bullets. And get this, he used unturned Lapua brass, with almost no case prep. As Jason says “the 6BR may give up something in the wind vs. the Big Boomers, but when it comes to pure accuracy and holding tight vertical, this little case can do the job.”

6BR at 1000 yards?

Wow thanks all!

I am new to this sport and have doing pretty well at 500/600 with my 6BR and like it so much that Whidden just did another barrel for me. Whidden also made me a 6x47Lapua

I do shoot 105 hybrids at 2850 in my 6BR

I have been scared to go to our state's 1000 yard (Rattlesnake Ridge) due to the prevailing winds there and several YouTube videos.

I think I will give it a try mid-October and will report back

MY 6BR REALLY DOES WELL WITH N-540 AND 105 VLDS AND CCI 450'S SHOT SOME GOOD GROUPS AND GOOD #'S

Nothing to be scared of, I think the last group that caused bodily harm to the losers of competition were the pre Columbus Myans, drive up and give it a try no harm to fear.
