Need some advice please.

Savage precision target dual port.
Bolt bushed
6xc 1:7 twist 30 inch shilen , plus radial brake.
Bottom of stock railroaded.

Protecktor tracker rear bag
Sinclair benchrest front with windage.

I have yet to try it past 100 yards.
Official round count of 53 at this point.
Seems to like whatever i push down the barrel and i am not sure of which load to try to improve on.

All loads tried so far have been with H4350 .
38.0 to 38.7 grains of powder and all loads .020 off the lands.
5 shot groups
The 2 bottom groups i had a few out of group open up but i had some bad mirage eye strain and was playing with rear bag placement.
The 3 wild diagonally placed shots in the enter were a 100 grain hornady interlock i used to foul my clean barrel.

This will be used at Ridgway for VBR Shoots.
The ugly part is that its a 2.5 hour ride for me so the farthest ill be able to test this out before i show up on May 2nd is 500 yards.

ANY ADVICE OR CONSTRUCTIVE CRITICISM IS WELCOME .

107SMK’s love to be in the lands. Push them in to where the engraving marks are square and work back.

Varmint Benchrest Silhouette.
All targets life sized steel, broadside.
850 yard crows
900 yard groundhogs
950 yard bobcats
1000 yard coyotes
40 targets , only 1 shot allowed at each target.

That top left group was the very 1st 107 Sierra's i tried. Just a wild ass guess of a load to start .
I have never had such close groups on a gun in my life when stating out new and fresh to the cartridge.

I have never shot this way . I assume ill see a preasure spike when starting from a jam ?
So how much do i need to back the powder charge down when doing this ?

Probably .5-.75gr. I always start with them in so it’s just a guess but should be plenty

Thats my problem all my groups look worth working on . I have shot this from 38.0 up to 38.7 and it seems to have promising results at all levels..
I have never had this before.
More of a tooth and nail type past with loads.
This seems way too easy.

Id test further past 100 yards. Much easier to tell things at 300 yards or 500. As the longer range info is what you want anyways. Jmo but 53 rounds down the pipe your still seasoning it. Things could very well change some. Most of my barrels ive seen when new settle in after 70 to 100 down the pipe.

With only 53 rounds fired, things will change a bit. Use a chrono if you can to see when it starts and to help you with your load. You will have some fun at Ridgeway. Hit some of the local Groundhog shoots. Lawrence County Sportsmans Club is doable from Erie......

Rick
