Need some 6.5 data

Does anyone have one of the high end programs & could run some numbers for me ?
I am shooting a 6.5x55 120gr Sierra MK HPBT over 41.4 grains of CFE-223 in a 16.5 1/8.5 twist barrel,,,, no chrono
The load is putting 5 or 6 shots in the same hole at 75yds & I was wondering if I'm getting enough velocity out of it for long range
Thx

Which cartridge are you shooting?
In lieu of a chronograph you could shoot the same load at, say, 200 or 300 yards, measure the drop and use the JBM online ballistics program to match the two points of impact and them see what your velocity is at 1000.
Or post the two drop points and ask someone here to check it for you.

You will find that the 120 gr bullet is very limiting for long range.

Ideally, you would be shooting 140 gr low drag bullets for long range.

At that point, the question might be what velocity you were getting from a 16.5" barrel.

Where did you get the load you are using right now?
I've got 500 of the 120s in trade from another forum member so I started with a 110gr bullet load from the Hogdon site & slowly worked it up,,,, no pressure signs of any type,,, the biggest thing I am worried about is overpressure.
No access to anything over 150yds at the moment, might try them this afternoon at 100 if the wind backs off.
It had a horrendous muzzle blast with the 4831 powders & I had the CFE sitting around so I loaded some light loads to start with & they grouped better than anything I had with the other powders

Using normal terms, 500 yards is mid-range. "Long range" normally means 1,000 yards.

With a 16.5" barrel, I bet you *did* have muzzle blast. Whew!

I'm still fairly new to rifle shooting Greg,,,, never had anything with a scope until 5 yrs ago, grew up wing shooting. The Hogdon rep refused to give me any info because they felt that 107 was the max bullet weight for CFE with 6.5 but they list a .308 load for 175s with almost 50 gr of powder,,, gonna keep working carefully, maybe look for higher node if I can get use of a chrono

We might be able to help you if we knew what cartridge you are speaking of. 260 Rem.? 6.5x55? 6.5/284? 6.5 Creedmoor? 6.5x47 Lapua? 6.5x50 Japanese? 6.5x54 MS?
You get the idea.

Thx guys
I used this link from a friend on GulfCoastGunForum.com;
http://shootersnotes.com/Velinfo.php
to get an approximate velocity of about 2417fps
& a overpressure warning but no pressure numbers
