Need Replacement Pan and Hook Assembly for an old Ohaus 10-0-5 scale

Sorry about the basic question....

I want to use an old Ohaus 10-0-5 balance beam scale that my uncle left me to check my digital scale.

I dug it out of the box and found that the pan and hook assembly had broken. I tried to solder it back together with no luck.

I checked Midway and they have one for an RCBS that looks like the Ohaus one but it is back ordered for a few weeks.

They also have hooks and pans for Redding scales and they are available.

Any suggestions? SHould I wait for the RCBS? Or is there another source or vendor that might help me?

Thanks for the help.

Are there no adjustment nut's on the beam?
If there is I'd just bend a coat hanger for the hook and adust the nuts till zero.
In any event unless you have the know weight of an item, cross checking 2 scales will do little good, they could both be off.
I got lucky, my work has a very expensive/very accurate scale that is verified monthly. I weighed a quarter, nickel and a dime, marked'm and have'm set aside.
good luck

The RCBS scales are made by Ohaus. The cradle is two-piece and has weights internal to it for calibration. Your best bet might be to contact Ohaus and ask them to fix it for you. What you get back will be as good as new.

Another option will be to PM Scott Parker, sparker, on this site. He reworks these scales himself and has a good reputation. He claims better than new, if I'm not putting words in his mouth.

You're welcome.

Scott openly declares that the 5-10 is his favorite scale. Maybe you'll come to like it better than the digital.

I keep hearing about these Ohaus scales being good. There is a used one at a local gunstore that has everything but the cover. Looked old and I asked what he wanted and he said $15. Range from 25G to 50BMG weights (can't remember exactly) but I didn't buy it as I do primarily .223 and don't crack 25g half of the time.

If it is useful to anybody I could pick it up and mail it out. I almost paid the $15 just because it was old and looked kinda cool.

What would it actually be worth probably?
