Need reloading bench Recommendation

I am looking for a new reloading bench. My new garage has limited space therefore the new bench needs to be limited to a table top of 46 inches in width or less. Table depth and height are not a real big limitation. I do not mind spending more money for a better quality table. Any advice or links would be much appreciated.

When I built my loading room, I took a chance on something. I searched for and found exactly the right size "Kitchen Top Butcher Block". It was 1.75" thick and 30" deep and 96" wide. There are many sizes so you can get what you need. I had a cabinet maker build 2 cabinets for storage on either end. The same cabinet maker placed 2 shelves above the top for things I use all the time. Then I had a painter come in and finish the Butcher Block and Cabinets with stain and some very hard clear finish>>.shellac or varnish? But it is phenomenal!

What do you guys think of this table? Size of the top seems ideal and the wheels will allow for some mobility. Top board seems more sturdy than MDF. Does anyone see any issues with mounting a reloading press on this table?
There's no place to sit so your legs are under the table. Rolling tables are not what you want. Sizing the brass takes lots of pressure. I think that a rolling table will constantly be moving. Where are you going to place your scale, bullets and powder when you have a press in the way? I guess I might be missing something>>>but that is what I see.

Why don't you build your own?

+1. If you build your own, you can make the dimensions to fit into a cramped or limited space. I'd did that using an old solid core door that has worked out well for me. Why spend money when you don't need too? And then, buy appropriate sized cabinets that fit according to the area you have availability. Think CUSTOM!

I use the component cabinets and formica tops from Lowes.
As previously said, you can make your bench any size. The area
of the counter top where my press is bolted, is heavily reinforced. I glued a 3/4" piece of MDF to the underside of the top, the full length and width of the opening between the cabinets. I then glued and screwed a 1/4" steel plate about 8"
square to the MDF. LDS

Home Depot runs a special about every three months on a foldable but VERY sturdy wood work bench. Goes for $79. I bought one and if you secure it to a wall with lags it will be more than sturdy enough.

OOOPS...just realized you said 48 inches long...this is too big, bt for anyone else it may work. Sorry.

Instead, just go to Bargain Outlet or Mr. Seconds, grab 48 inches of the basic countertop they sell, frame it in pine 2x4, lag it to the wall, use 2x4 legs and you will be fine. I do that, using some 2x4 laid flat under my press to rienforce it for mounting bolts. Works great.

+1 for building your own. Here are a couple pics for plans for a cost effective workbench (and sawhorse for those that may be interested). Customize to your requirements. Both are solid as a rock. Of course, replace vice with reloading press. :)

That trestle with a maple top from Grizzly tools would be bomber!

I would frame it up out of 2x6 and put two layers of 3/4" A/C plywood on it a call it good.

I don't like a slick top and I want it sturdy.

I like to stand up when I am reloading but you can make it lower if you want to sit.

I purchased two of these kits.

Make the top size anything you want. Extremely stable when fully assembled. All you need is a powered screw drive and something to cut the wood you purchase with.

Want to sit at the bench? Make the center shelf out of what you cut off in length from a sheet of plywood. Then the center shelf ends up only taking up a portion and offset to the back and you can sit on a stool with your feet on the lower shelf.

If you buy through E-mail you can get them for the same price with pillars that go on top of the bench. Use the narrower sheet cut from the second sheet of plywood for the top and put a sheet of peg board behind.

I went full 8 feet in length, but 32" Deep with two 18" pieces left for each bench. One for the top of the pillars and one for the middle shelf.

Harbor Freight has the following for $130. If you find the right coupon at the right time, you can have one for $100. Mine has help up for close to 10 yrs. I added some shelving and it meets all my needs. Good luck.

I have one of these and it's great. You can buy one for less than the cost of purchasing the materials. When you assemble it, have a bottle of yellow wood glue handy and give each and every joint a squirt of glue. After you tighten the screws and let it cure overnight, you'll have a rock solid bench which will last for years. Don't discount the built in wood vise. I use mine all the time.
