Need quality brass for 6mm Remington

I have a 6mm Remington custom rifle and am trying to get the most accuracy out of it. Thus far I have used new Remington brass, sorted and neck turned. I am thinking if I had some higher quality brass to start with the accuracy might be better. Is anyone making brass for 6mm Remington from Lapua or Norma brass? If so, what is your procedure?

Thank you,
Gene Pool

I used to use winchester with good results. Winchester is one of the best american made brass.

I don't think anyone except for Remington and Winchester make brass for the 6Rem. I've looked on Norma, Lapua and Nosler's websites and none of them make it, I never quite understood why the 243 took its place.

you could buy some premium 7x57 mauser and make your own, Norma does make that.

I was actually thinking about doing that. I have a 6.5x284 die for the intermediate sizing.

I'm with you on this. My last lot of Winchester 6mm was really bad with terrible headspace variation. The current Remington lot has been pretty good, ~50% culled. [br]
1. Visual inspection for neck splits, shoulder folds or off-center/oblong flash holes.
2. Sort by weight to get the outliers.
3. Sort by case wall thickness to ≤.002" TIR with a Neco tool.
4. Uniform flash holes.
5. Uniform primer pockets.
6. Expand and turn necks.
7. Degrease in ultrasonic cleaner and inspect again with magnification in case anything got past me the first time. [br]
This process leaves some pretty good cases that last well if not pushed too hard. After years of working with .244 and 6mm rifles and still owning four, I ordered a 6mm SLR reamer and die set, 500 Lapua .243 cases and sent a Krieger barrel and BAT 3L to Bob Green for chambering. I have not given up on 6mm Remington but, after all the work, it is still a fairly touchy cartridge to tune and I am hoping for a little wider window with the 6mm SLR. It would be a lot easier if Lapua or Norma made 6mm Remington brass. :(

Without a doubt RWS 7x57 Mauser brass, or perhaps Norma (I'm unsure of Norma brass as a friend of mine using a 7x57 lost his cases due to primer pockets after 3 mild firings). I'm using RWS in a 6mm Crusader which is basically a 6mm AI and I'm on my 13Th firing.

I have never thought about using it for 6mm Rem? but the process of making it into 6mm AI is quite laborious and you will definitely have to neck turn a serious amount off the neck depending on chamber size.

Winchester brass is OK and can be made uniform but again I would recommend neck turning although in this case just a good clean up should do. I use both Win and RWS brass in high level competition and can see no real difference, other than I doubt the Win brass will get me to 13 firings.
