Need primer advice.

I have several XP-100's in 7mm br. Remington that I want to load for. I will be loading 120 grain bullets and want to use H322 and H4198 powder. I have the opportunity to obtain Federal small rifle primers or Federal small rifle magnum primers. Which would be the better choice in your opinions, Standard or magnum ? Thank you for any advice you may have.

The regular primers will light the fire no doubt but if you want a little more heat then go for the Mag. The loads will probably differ somewhat.

I've never seen a federal small rifle magnum primer. Maybe match? I don't get out much.

Either the standard or Match primers will light it up. Might see a slight increase in the Match primer.

I’ve shot IHMSA for 25+ years with XP100 chambered in 7BR. I shoot a140 gr bullet, H322 and Fed 205 primer.

Years ago, the 205M was called Magnum.

The Magnum primers I can obtain are "Small Rifle Match" to clarify my question. I should have stated that, sorry.

I don't think there's any brisance difference between the 205 Match and the regular 205 primers. I can't tell any accuracy difference between the two in a 6PPC. My advice would be to get the cheapest, but that's just me.

Both will do a fine job. I'd opt the 205 to start and try the M's later if you want to tinker. -Al

Federal said they are the same except for an extra visual inspection. This has been addressed several times over the years.
