Need Opinion on McMillan MC3 Stock

You have a clear upgrade over the SPS stock. I’ve gone that route before for the barreled action, with no use for the economy feeling stock that added nothing to the gun’s price.
You can definitely spend more still on a stock, and a really prized one may end up serving for several rifles, which might support that choice, if you hadn’t already bought the one you have.
Since you have it already, I’d look at whether the pair in question is cohesive. I think it is as it stands, probably perfectly so. You can put very expensive glass, rings, bases and stocks on those barreled actions. Ultimately though they are pretty basic in twist rate and finish, and will just become the weakest link if used as the basis for a very high end set up.
I believe Remington saw it this way too. When they used the more costly HS stock, they paired it with either the finish that is on the Police 700, or stainless versions, special twist, profiles, etc.
