Need new screw for my Winchester 94 AE

Well I buggered up a screw and found something else out in the process. I was taking a peep sight off the back of the stock that had 2 screws in it and was going to install Skinner peep sight on top of the receiver and get some new front sights from them also. First screw in rear I buggered up real good. Second screw I thought I was never going to get out. I had to take a small metal file and cut a slot down into it and into the peep sight sides where the screw was and use a large screw driver to barely get it out. When I took off the sight I came to find out that their had to be a hole tapped into the metal to hold the peep sight on. I was totally bummed because now their will be a tapped hole in it with nothing in it after I find a new screw to hold the back stock on. What a bummer because it is a clean rifle. I need to find a new long screw that I buggered up to put back together and figure out what I am going to do so I don't have to look at the threaded hole when I get the other sights on. Any suggestions. I thought about wrapping some thin leather down the straight grip area or something else. Anybody have any suggestions. I do not want the expense of sending the rifle out to get it fixed. Here is a picture of what I am talking about about.

Thanks,
Dan

To plug the hole, get a plug of the same diameter and thread pitch of the screw you pulled and put that in. As far as a replacement screw, Numrich is the place to go. This is their web site:

My question would be why you would want to replace the tang sight? Those are kind of a standard in model 94's when attempting to increase the sight radius for more accuracy. My grandfather had one mounted on his rifle 60 years ago. I mounted one on mine as well.

I agree with Ron. Get a hex wrench screw like is used on die collars. Set it flush with a little loctite and act like it belongs there.
Most hardware store have bins with all the different sizes.

Ok, I wanna know who of you all conspired to keep Jack First a secret from me for 40 years!!!!!! @jonbearman is on my nice list. The rest of you are HIGHLY suspect! :D ;)
