Need loaded neck diameter of 6BR (105 class bullets and new unturned Lapua brass)

Mine run .268 loaded using Lapua blue box unturned with a Berger 68gr FB. Started with a .266 bushing and ended up liking a .265 better (bullet is seated ~ .138 deep, and ~ .010 off jam). With the longer bullet, you may find a .267 works better...you'll have to experiment:)

Don't have measurement but I'd order 265 to 268 so you can try Different neck tension. Shot mine yesturday for first time using 268 bushing and 105 Bergers shot 49 4x on a 200 yard score target

My recent lot of Lapua 6BR brass measures .268-.2685 loaded neck OD on a 105 Hybrid. Redding .267 Titanium bushing gives me .266-.2665 sized brass. I'd say .266 or .267 is your go-to, unless you plan to run an expander and want to size a bit smaller before you expand back out.

Once fired new blue box Lapua .2685" with Berger 105 hybrid. .268 Redding bushing with around .0015" neck tension.

Don't be afraid to try a bit more neck tension. Snugging those necks a bit more should be part of your tuning process.

Good Shooting

Just an FYI: my most recent lot of Lapua 6mm BR brass measured in at a solid .269" with some up to .2695" loaded!!!! It was too tight for my no-turn .2704 reamer so I had to turn the brass.

Same here. My lots measure .2690 to 2695 with 105's.

Well...........

Looks like I`m going to have to get some of the current production brass to spec. a reamer from, my older blue box stuff measures .267 with a 55gr. Nosler stuffed in it......

mine were .268 with 105VLD's. So maybe shop your brass first? I was going to run a .268 and just thin it to .266.

loaded round -.002 to .003. Bushing .002 under that. Add two sides thickness to ACTUAL bullet size and loaded will likely be .005 less because of compression. if you don't know your chamber neck size, you need to find it!

If specing a reamer for neck you can't assume bullets are going to be .2430 diameter. bullets vary lot to lot with jacket material and dies wear.

George,

I get that, that`s why i stated the bullet i used, i did`t realize that it had changed this much and will be getting some brass to measure before i call for the reamer....;)

Phil.

Phil, No problem a lot of people Assume its always .2430, but not so much.. have a good one, I would error to the large side

Yeah,

I`m looking to do a no turn varmint rifle with this one, so i`ll get the brass and see how this turns out.....

Ordered a .266 bushing to start off with. Thanks for the help.

Since almost every major component supplier is out of Lapua 6BR brass, I suspect that a shipment from Finland is due anytime. I will be curious to hear a report on the new batch neck thickness.

I found some at Gunstop.com. Everybody else was out. Per Lapua rep, a container is due in the 13th.
