Need Help with a 20 Vartarg Build

I’d like to get a 20 Vartarg put together. I have a Remington model Seven in 300 BO as a donor. From what I have read this should be a good rifle to use for the conversion. I’d just like to verify the mag box, follower and spring will work as is.

Second, there are the Model 7 BO action only out there. If you use one of these it looks like the magazine, spring and follower might be difficult to find. Any idea where these can be found.

I've been waiting on a 6 BR go gauge for a moth that they claim they have 58 in stock. I believe I ordered my magazine box and follower directly from Remington. This was several years ago, before the latest bankruptcy, and the order was smooth and it shipped promptly. Not sure what the status is today.

A Bartlein barrel in either 2b or Remington Varmint contour and 24” length.

Since the magazine is already set up too feed the 300black out, it should feed that 20 VT case. Try it first before you go diving into changing it, could save you a lot of time and extra money.
Hopefully you went with the 1/11 twist in the barrel, as that seems to be the one that works best, overall with the 20 bores. You will enjoy your 20 VT.

I have not ordered the barrel yet but it will be a 11 twist. The parts question was in regards to the action only. It has no mag box, spring or follower. I would prefer to use this first instead of the complete rifle.

I tried to call Remington, got a voice mail that their offices are not open. Are there any other alternatives? I've seen a blocked mag box for 17 rem, 222 and 223. It looks like it has a block in the magazine but not sure if is long enough for the shorter Vartarg. I ordered the follower from PTG. So if anyone has a lead of a mag box and spring I would appreciate it.

Lapua brass? Which reamer and neck diameter?

Lapua brass, 20 Vartarg Lapua Chamber reamer and don’t have the neck dis yet.

If you don't already have some and plan to use Lapua brass you may want to stock up on some new old stock that's still sitting on the shelves wherever you can find it because I believe Lapua has discontinued making 221FB brass which is the parent case to the 20VT.

Red hawk rifles used to stock most Remington bolt action parts. Give them a look maybe.

That's terrible news. Maybe it's just on hold while they produce other things that are in short supply and not being discontinued forever.
