need help with .223

I agree with
Expensive isn't always good .:(
Good isn't always expensive.:)

I put a Green Mountain .223 on my Savage and it shoots quarter size groups at 100 yrds. fire forming the AI. Did the work myself.
Inexpensive yet shoots well

Admittedly, i don't shoot 600 to 1000 yrd shoots, rifle might, i don't have anyplace that far to shoot.

I have a Remington 700 .223 that I have never been able to get to shoot. It has a 1 in 12 twist rate that had I known before I bought it I would not have because I see no purpose in the super light bullets. I want to know if you were going to re-barrel it on a budget which barrel would you buy? This is a bone stock Remington that I have tried every powder bullet combo imaginable but still will only shoot a minute at best.

Looking for something that will shoot the 50 to 77 grain bullets.

Thanks for your help

Before you drop more cash, are you certain it's the rifle? Is your optic ok? If necessary, did you lap the scope rings, etc? I have a Rem SPS Varmint with 1 in 12 and it shoots like a laser with 50-65 gr pills (53 SMK and 55 SPT are the juice) AND it will group flat base way better than boat tail. IMR 4064 and Varget. AND all my Rem 700 models love the bullets jumping. Check it out in case you haven't. Hate seeing folks spend more if they don't really have to do so. Thx

I HAVE A SPS THAT SHOOTS LIGHTS OUT FOR A FACTORY RIFLE WITH BULLETS FROM 50-60GRS MYSELF IT HARD TO GET A RIFLE TO PREFORM WHEN YOU GET FRUSTRATED BEEN THERE !!!!!!!!

The Bergers are great bullets in a 1 in 12" twist. We've had one for many years (Factory Rem 700 1 in 12" ADL) that would shoot any VMAX into 1" or better at 100 yards with almost any load. But it really shined with the Bergers.

Eventually, we will have a 1 in 8" twist put on for 75-80 grain bullets. A 1 in 7" twist will sometimes have VMAX bullets blowing up due to overspin, and you never know when a need to shoot varmints will arise.

Have your local gunsmith take a look at it, bore scope it etc. etc. Maybe he can pass a definite sentence on the gun.
