Need help understanding barrel contours, please.

Can someone point me to a good detailed review of barrel contours?

I found this: http://www.6mmbr.com/barrelfaq.html#24634

But it's pretty minimal.

Thanks

Since each barrel maker seems to have their own designation, you pretty much have to go to each companies individual website, or a Midway or Brownells website or catalog.

If you know the contour dimensions,You can draw the contour out on a piece of cardboard that will give you a bit better idea, of what you will end up with.

Thats what i did when i ordered my krieger and lilja barrels. And i was very close to the contour when the barrel arrived.

Also from the Lilja website, an article and spread sheet that can be used to estimate the weight of barrels with almost any contour

http://www.riflebarrels.com/articles/barrel_making/contoured_weight_calculations.htm

and another article and spread sheet that can be used to estimate and compare the stiffness of almost any barrel contour

http://www.riflebarrels.com/articles/barrel_making/rigidity_benchrest_rifles.htm

I have found both of these very helpful when planning a new build or rebarreling.
