Need help for OAL dummy round

I've ordered a 6BR, 14 twist Shilen barrel, 24" varmint for a Savage rifle. I'll be using Berger 68gr flat based target rounds. I'm required to send 4 dummy rounds with the correct OAL to Shilen for chambering but don't know the OAL needed. I'm thinking I'll need .030 or so for possible jump if needed . Any advice is greatly appreciated. Thanks

I'm a little lost...
Is Shilen doing the chambered action for you?

Normally i would say, especially with a Savage action, they would chamber the barrel for the cartridge. You, or the smith would then set the headspace, do your dummy rounds, and adjust the throat with a throating reamer.

Barrel length, contour, action, cartridge and any special neck diameter would be the only info that i know of that they would need.

Sounds like they're wanting to know how much "freebore" he's wanting???
Me? ZERO freebore. You can always go longer but you can't go back.
FB bullets seated at the shoulder/neck junction. As the throat wears (and it will, maybe faster than you would like) you can go longer with the OAL staying closer to the lands.
I go ZERO freebore with my bullets stuffed into the lands but I bench shoot so I'am ready if I pull a loaded round and dump powder into the action. () YMMV.;)

That is what I thought too as I already have a 6BR 8 twist and when I ordered that barrel it was in stock (Criterion) and shipped right away. I assume the 14 twist is a rare bird that required the extra info. I will seat the bullet at the shoulder/neck junction using zero freebore as the reply from NorCalMikie makes sense. Sorry for my wording in the op, I've never had to do this before. The 8 twist shoots the heavies very well but is a 28" bull barrel that needs wheels rather than a sling and in my neck of the woods long range is about 300 yds so I figured a slower twist and lighter bullets with a shorter and lighter barrel would do the trick. This is not a competition rifle and will be mostly a target rifle as I've reached geezer status in age. I just wanted a bughole shooting rifle and figured this setup should shoot very well. Thanks for the replies.

Wheels, instead of a sling! :D

I'd just tell them zero freebore, and throat ream if needed.

Or with the lighter weight bullets, you could possibly get by with a CIP/SAAMI 6BR chamber. May not need to throat it at all.
Especially if your not shooting the VLD style bullet. (I can never remember which is Secant, and which is Tangent).
