Need help for a friend

I have a friend that i go to church with that is a retired firefighter, he wants a semi auto 22LR that ejects out the left side. He had an injury at work and I don't know the medical name of it but he tells me he can see out of that eye but it like looking through a soda straw. he wants to shoot left handed and sight with his left eye but the empty flying that close to his right eye spooks him and messes up his shot. I posted about him before and his kids got him a left handed AR 15 that he is learning to use with pretty good effect. He shoots a S&W 357 left handed and is doing well with it also. He needs an around the house gun for predators. We call his wife the chicken whisperer. They have about 40 chickens and 15 quail and he is always trying to defend them. He and the whisperer have been helping my wife and I get started with chickens and a garden. We both have a black thumb but he has found a plant that kinda looks like cane but it's roots are edible. Yucca, I may not know how to spell or pronaunce it but it seems i can grow it. Thanks for reading my long-winded explanation and for any help you can give me for Jim.

Thanks guys I had no idea that there was such a thing as left handed 22s in semi auto. When I can get him to shoot a few maybe we are on our way to finding something he can use.

He may very well be farther ahead shooting righty with a set of offset rings for his left eye.

Might take a look on Brownells, they offer a ejected brass shield for an AR that forces ejected brass to the side and down, 20-30 bucks. Might be adaptable for a 10/22 as it uses a picatenny rail. May be easier on the wallet to buy a right hand gun then put a mod on it for a left hand shooter. My son is a LH shooter, so.

I have to ask, why not just wear safety glasses or an eye shield? A lot of competition shooters use an eye patch or a blinder on their glasses to prevent distraction

Ask any Cuban in Florida about Yuca and they will tell you how to prepare it,(very easy dish) it's delicious when cooked and seasoned correctly. They have a sauce you can buy called Mojo, it's perfect for yuca .add some onions to it and your done.

My 2 cents :)

now that you mention it I use one of these when shooting AR Prone matches to keep my brass from peppering the guy to my right

Don't forget the Browning SA22 as an option. They eject out the bottom. And are decades proven critter getter's. It's not going to win a rimfire match but they are one heck of a squirrel gun.

My first thought too.

My son in law is Cuban and his mother and father are both excellent chiefs. I will ask for their recipe. I think that the Ruger left handed is right up his alley as a SHTF, protect the chicken coop rifle. It has the factory 25 round magazine option, that I think he will like.

You never said but I am assuming your friend is a right hander. I lost the effective use of my right eye. I'm too old to learn how to shoot left handed soooo. The tactical boys have developed a lot of jigs to hang bells and whistles off their ARs. I used these to offset scopes and red dot to the left side of the rifle. I now shoot right handed and left eyed. It works amazingly well.

I don't know how to post pictures , told you I was old, I can text pictures. If you will PM me a phone number, I'd like to share my designs.
