NEED HELP!!! Brass stuck in Die

I've NEVER had this problem... Case was LUBED too!!!! 308 win... redding FL neck sizer die... I tried putting the die in the press upside down and pushing it out with the press and a metal rod and it wont budge... case is ruined already...

hornady one shot case lube... never had this kind of problem with it at all!!

What the hell can I do to get this case out an not hurt my die???

I had the correct shell holder... it sheared off both sides of the case head even... It went into the die fine...

Is it a bushing die,,,,do you have the expanedr ball removed(like your supposed to do),,,,if so just pull the decaying assy out and drive a punch against the base of the ctg and it will come out,,,Roger

Well they make stuck case removers but you can also male your own.
Youtube video on it https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o8mrumI0Dag

Did one similar to this years ago before the internet and they work. I used a #12 screw since I had the tap already.

If you can get the decapping stem out Rogers way will work. If you can't get the decapping stem out put the die in a small bucket and fill it with 20 weight motor oil. Let it sit overnight.

Put it in the freezer and forget about it a while. Itll fall right out. While youre waiting throw that spray lube in a campfire somewhere so itll serve some kind of good function

yes bushing die... expander ball is out already... I tried a punch and hammer and it wouldnt budge... I got scared I may mess up the threads on the die itself hitting any harder..

Drill and tap the case head for a 1/4-20 bolt, find a small deep socket, stack or washers or nuts or a short piece pipe that will rest on the face o the die and has a large enough ID for the .308 case to pass through. Use the previous pieces as a spacer, stick your bolt through a washer that will prevent the head from passing through the spacer, insert bolt through spacer, thread into case head and tighten the bolt.

This is basically what the purchased "stuck case remover" is and you most likely can pt it together with items from the junk box.

I used a piece of all thread rod and a nut instead of a bolt but a hex head bolt works fine you only have to move the case a very short distance to break it free.

Bet you won't skimp on lube again!

Or, send it to me and I'll use it to lube cases just like I've always done. If you got a stuck case, you weren't using enough of it.

"I got scared I may mess up the threads on the die itself hitting any harder.."

Remove die from press !!!!!!
Drill wooden block just oversized of case head diameter
Place die on block
Drive case free with as big a flat punch/bolt as you can get into the case neck

Enjoy adult beverage afterwards, whilst simultaneously chastising self and patting self on back

Most of the guys on here with stuck cases use Hornady spray lube or something similar. I have never stuck a case with Imperial Die Wax and it wipes off with a paper towel. Matt

+1 Ditch the One Shot......there have been more posts like yours where One Shot has failed them than any other type of lube.

+100. The only brass I ever stuck was with the Hornady lube. It's useless on anything larger than a .17 Fireball or necking down in a neck only die.

If all else fails, send it to Redding.

I suppose it could be pure luck, but i've been using the One- Shot for decades. To include forming my 378 GNR and 450 GNR brass ;)

Put the die back in the press, Clamp Vise-Grip to exposed portion of case, Tap Vise-Grip with mallet/hammer while turning Vise-Grip. Hint for using One-Shot..Invert cases in block (NK down) apply from multiple sides and LET STAND/DRY for a few minutes (3-4). I use it(One-Shot) and never had issues when doing it this way.

I used this same principle a couple of times over the years and it worked for me. Would suggest polishing the inside of the die once the case is removed in whatever manner with something like Flitz to remove any possible light scuffs that could invite the problem again
Best Wishes

Got it out like this.... froze it... then some light tapping with a punch and it came out easy....

If you have no luck, send it back with a check for $6 to Redding. It will come back to you all polished and clean.

And ask them for some Imperial. One shot is notorious for stuck cases.
