Need Help and Advise...

I have just rebarrelled my Savage with a 1 in8 26 Inch LW barrel. Have head spaced correctly using go/no go gauges.

I loaded up a dummy cartridge with a 105 Scenar at a OAL of 2.441 and ended up with the bullet jammed about 0.11 into the lands.. with the 90 gr Scenar and an OAL of 2.405 I was into the lands well and good.

I am now using an OAL of 2.30 and am still into the lands... :,

Not sure about what to do, since I am well under the OAL's of the manuals, though am using Quickload to work out safe loads.
I have not shot this barrel yet... and am a little worried that it might not really shoot well.

Not sure about what to do... I can not send the barrel back either.

Afy, Most 6BR reamers have roughly .105-.107 Lead, Although your rifle is head spaced correctly, that has no connection with throat lead. It sounds as though you have a reamer with little or no lead. I'm guessing,because I'm not a gunsmith)that you'll have to get your chamber throated separately or live with the short throat that you have, which may be O.K. as long as the bullets pressure ring is still in the neck and not hanging down into the cases powder space. I have a 6 X 47 Lapua which has an .080 lead and I'm going to have the throat lengthened to .110 so I can seat 105VLD's out where they belong.

Ah well at this point, my guess is I will have to live with it in this barrel. Just surprised and disappointed with this LW factory prefit.

I would think whoever you bought that prefit from would be willing to make a call and help you take care of it.

I certainly can not do a throating job. And per the guy I bought it from, nor can he... :,

afy, go to http://jgstools.com/mainarea.html scroll down to the catalog and look for T handle set for reamers and throaters. this maybe right what your looking for.

RBD: How would that help. The bullets will be seated too deeply..
Routemaster: Will the T Handle set have the 6MM BR throater or do I need to buy that seperately? Hopefully they will ship to France.

Sorry but you will have to buy the throater separately. I just called them and they said they would ship to France if you're still interested.
