Need gunsmith to install a Savage pre-fit and a Rifle Basix trigger

Looked around here last week and got a guy's name from here but he doesn't seem to want to do the job. We even had mutual friends, who are shooters, on FB. No worries. But am looking for a new gunsmith. In IL would be ideal but can ship to anywhere, but much prefer a short turn around time. I do not want to be waiting to get my gun back come October. I live in West Central Hell-Illinois. Thanks.

If You’re going to own a Savage, You really need to look into doing Your own work, as has been suggested. www.theurbanriflemanstore.com is an excellent provider of barrels at appealing prices, and other Savage items. For any questions You have, You can Google Your question and include the word Savage, and at least some of the answers will direct You to the Savage Shooters Site. But don’t put it off because “SAVAGE SHOOTERS.COM SITE IS CLOSING DOWN 8/31/‘25” .

Every Savage action I have seen has a notch to align the recoil lug, and Savage recoil lugs have something on them to align to that notch. No alignment tool needed.

My friend that I used to shoot with from this board was at one time the chief engineer for Perry oceanographic. He would collect recoil lugs for Remington actions and buy some of the thicker ones and when he wanted to head space a Remington he would try a lug and get and Idea what thickness he needed and then look through the collection and find the closest one and try it. If he ran out of options he would send one to Perry to the machine shop have one ground to the size he needed. If you are just playing with take off barrels this may be a good way to experiment.
