Need feedback on Bausch and Lomb 6-24x40 AO

I have an opportunity to gey older Bausch and Lomb 6-24x40 AO, any feedbackI can getis appreciated. I'd use it for Silhouette and target shooting with my 308.

They are nice older scopes,I have a few.The only thing I see is they dont have alot of moa travel compared to other scope manufacturers.

Yes they are great older scopes for the time and the money, I have several. But like stated, they dont have the internal travel I need. But work great within set parameters not needing much vertical adjustments..

I have two that are still mounted and used on occasion. Every time I do I am impressed with very sharp clarity.

I have 2 of them and they don't have the adjustment like a leupold and the crosshairs are slightly heavier than the leupold but they are just as clear and you can get them a fair bit cheaper than a 6.5-20 leupold. I'd say they are a great buy for working loads or hunting ground hogs etc.

I had two and the optics are great, but they only have 26 moa of total elevation, so it is really easy to run out of "up" real fast.

I also found that the main 1" tube was fairly weak and a little bump would bend enough that it ruined the rest of your day until it was zero'ed again.

Great optics, a little heavy. Check you can still make weight for silhouette. Burris with inserts will accommodate the elevation limitations.

I have one I bought new in 1985. Paid $220 for it and at that time it was more than I paid for a scope in my life. Turns out to be one of the best investments in my life! It has been on more firearms than my Wife knows about! It has never failed and is presently mounted on my .17 Fireball but is mounted on Signature Zee rings so tomorrow it may be on another rail.....
