Need checkering done

I have a friend that just got a Mauser action in 7x57 that his dad sporterized for him. He has a maple stock that needs some basic checkering done in the grip and forearm.

Prefer someone in Oklahoma or North Texas, but I am sure he would be willing to mail the stock off.

Google stock makers and start calling.What kind of stock is it?Was it homemade? Or is it like a stockys stock or boyds etc.

You could probably buy one already checkered for less than it would cost you to ship it back and forth and pay a craftsman for his time. Checkering is slow and precise work. Usually not cheap.

I am trying to talk him into a Boyd's stock that he could get with laser checking for $170 in Walnut. Everyone we have contacted is $350 and up. That is more than he needs.
