Need ballistic info for .308 Savage FTR

I havent had time to chronograph my load and was thinking about tackling the 1000 yard shoot at Bayou this weekend. Anyone have a ballpark MOA for 1000 yards.

The rifle: Savage 12 FTR
Load: 43.2gn varget, BR2 primers, Lapua brass, 175gn, SMK

Dont know your speed, but in my savage, 185 juggernauts, it is 30 moa from 100, 25 moa to 900 and 20 moa to 800 and I add .5 moa windage for spindrift. All from a 100 yard zero.

I dont know my MV, If i had to guess it would be around 2600

+39 MOA if your velocity is 2,600.

I answered this on Snipers Hide too. Your load is light, you should be up closer to 44 grains of Varget.

I'd start at 36MOA up from your 100 yard zero and see if you are on the paper. You may need a good bit more elevation. I shot some F-TR matches a few yrs ago with a 24" barrel and 175s and I was using 36 to 37MOA but I was also loading a full grain more than you, but in WW brass. Lapua is thicker, tribal knowledge says it gets MV similar to WW with half a grain less, so your still pretty slow to 1000.

My 175 load at 2750 calls for 35 moa at 1000 according to Shooter. From memory, I was in the neighborhood of 44 grains of Varget.

I'm getting 2750 from 175gr SMKs with 43gr of Varget, Lapua brass, 31" barrel. 35MOA is a good starting point.
