Need Advise on Stark Bullets for PD's

I've got an oppurtunity to buy several
Stark 75 gr 6mmRed Mist bullets=
they have the gaping open tips
similar to Berger old MEF's=
I shot some this AM and they show
very good potiential w/ accuracy
about 1/2 to 5/8" 5 shot groups @ 200yds in wind
and cold this Morn.
They also blew 16 oz. water bottles to
smitherines and eggs vaporize or launch
@ 200 and 300 yds. Just looking for
some real world PrarieDog experience before
I load up on 'em, I'd like to use 'em
out of my short barreled 6BR for 400 yds in=
thanks in advance

Doc,

The Starke bullets are great bullets, They should do fine for PD, as far out as you can hit them.

Starke Red Prarie were great bullets; too bad they're not being made anymore. I bought 4 boxes of the 68 grn. 6mm from Sinclair several years ago and use them sparingly. I also bought 250 ea. of Jeff Fowler's 68 grn. & 80 grn. 6mm bullets and it's a shame Jeff got sick and passed away because his bullets were equally good. Clarence Hammond's makes a good 68 grn. bullet. I don't have any live critter experience with them but will report when I do. Clarence's bullets are available.

I don't know much about custom bullets but from what I have gathered, a large component to the success is good dies.

thanks for the info guys.. I too use Fowlers' 80 grainers
as I ratholed quite a few before Jef died.. His dies are
being used by a guy in GA and reports from new Fowler users
are very positive.. The Fowler 80 grainers are super accurate but punch pencil hole in and pencil hole out on Prarie dogs. I have killed a truck load w/ them but hoping the Starke's will blow up on PD's much more violently as they have the gaping hollow point. I tested the Starkes on 16 oz water bottles and results were spectacular/.
thanks again

PS- MarkS, long time no seeum==
maybe I'll get to shoot Oak Ridge w/ Birdog and you guys next spring==

voldoc02, I made custom bullets off of J-4 jackets for many years. I played around with various size of HP to get the expansion right.

I hunted p. dogs for many years starting in the late 70's.

To be honest with you, I think that you would be much happier with the Hornady 65g V max and the 75g V max. For sure you will be happy with the accuracy of the 65's in a 14 twist.

You can get unreal velocities with the 65's with AA2230 with a CCI BR-4 or 7 1/2 primer.

Good luck!

Doc,
I just re-read your post in the entirety and agree with what Keith just posted. I use 65 grn. Hornady V-Maxes in my 1:14" Hart 6mm BR with a stiff charge of Varget, CCI 450 mag primer and Lapua Brass. This round clocks at approx. 3450 ft/s. and will shoot a one hole group at 200 meters. The V-Maxes are awesome on live critters and allows me to miserly use the Starkes and Fowlers. Quite honestly, the V-Maxes are every bit as accurate for live varmints as the custom bullets in my 6mm BR.

I guess I'm just spoiled as I expect way too much
accuracy out of the VMax's.. You all seem to get 1/4 MOA w/ them and I struggle to get
1/2 MOA.. I agree that the terminal results are very good w/ VMax's
but they just won't bughole for me like true BR bullets
