Need advice and thoughts on shooting glasses.......

Good Morning, I am getting new glasses and want a pair of Rx shooting glasses to use only for shooting at the range and off the bench. I am a right handed shooter and my thought is to have glasses with the right lens with a Rx for distance only and my left lens with a Rx for distance and a bifocal. My question is, does anyone shoot with glasses like that ? My second question is, does anyone use a lens coating to help define the target better ? Please let me know what thoughts you have on shooting glasses. Thank you, Richard Ramsey, Westerville, Ohio

I'm in the same boat with you Richard. Thank's for asking the question. I have been considering shooting glasses but have no clue where to start.

During a recent visit to the optometrist I asked about glasses for scoped rifle shooting. My glasses are lined tri-focal and I just can't use them with a scope. I was thinking about getting a pair of glasses for my distance vision only. He asked if I had considered contact lenses, which I had not. He gave me a few pair of disposable contacts to try.

The contacts work great for me shooting. I can see through the scope without having the adjustable ocular eyepiece turned way up in magnification. My distance vision in my left eye is good with the contacts in, so my left eye is not strained. I am much more relaxed shooting, which has really improved my long range groups. I still have to keep a pair of low power reading glasses handy to read small print. I only use the contacts for shooting and scuba diving. It's really nice to see better under water too!
