Need a Tool for Savage Bolt

Looking for a tool to cock a Savage bolt after disassembly. Currently have to use the edge of my loading bench.
Or if there isn't such a tool, how are ya'll doing it?

Fwiw, Savage even recommends using the edge of your bench.

I got one on ebay and I got the other one in a buy out I did. I think Midway might sell one.

Here ya go, May need modification for Savage, I don't do much Savage stuff so I wouldn't know. You could make one easily yourself.

I use a thin wire with a backward and downward motion on the same pull with the bolt in a vice. Because I am a wuss I put on gloves before doing that wire trick.

I recock mine on the edge of an old oak stool I have. I also pushed the pin back up in the cock position with a screwdriver shank.

I use a piece of 7mag or bigger brass. Put the mouth of the case on the button of the pin and push on the head of the case with your palm. Push at an angle so it seats in the cocked position. It ruins the case mouth so I have a piece of brass dedicated to doing this. It’s a good idea to wear a glove. Occasionally it can bruise your hand if you happen to push wrong.

I've considered this method but I'm leary about putting the locking lugs in a vice.

So put a loop of small cordage in the vise and hold the bolt in your hand. Kinda like the boot lace method.

I use a cresent wrench. I adjust it where its loose on the bolt some. Then hold bolt knob with one hand and turn wrench with other. Does not leave any marks on the bolt. Easier than using edge of table., ive had it slip off a few times and hurt myself in some way.

As JB 10 stated, a cresent wrench is all you need. An open end wrench will also work. Very simple and easy to do. I keep one in my tool drawer in the reloading room. It doesn't have to be a tight fit at all. Adjust it to fit and slightly back off. Easy Peasy

1/8" X 1" X 6" aluminium with a hole drilled for the cocking pin. Use 2 hands, grab both ends with thumb on BAS.
Goes into the range box.
Removing the rear baffle gives more room.
Backing out the BAS makes it easy.

Put the part of the bolt that has the round cocking pin in the corner of the vise. Vise width is same as bolt. Turn bolt handle in a CCW rotation as if you were cocking the bolt while in the action. Smooth and Easy.
Try it and you will be pleasantly surprised,

Maybe the best idea, only put the BAS in 2 turns, flip it up with Your thumb, then run the BAS in the rest of the way.
