Need A tool for head space/shoulder bump

I am having trouble finding a measuring tool for my 240 Weatherby to measure shoulder bump???
For those of you that reload a 240 Weatherby what do you use.
If possible a link or explanation would be great.

Buy the Hornady headspace gauge and a set of inserts. It will measure about every case. I pick an insert that hits about the middle of the shoulder. Then you measure and check after sizing to see how much you bump. It works pretty good. Matt

I like the Hornady as well. It gives you an exact reading of how much the shoulder is being bumped. Other tools like the Wilson gauges also work but they give you more of a "pass/fail" reading on headspace with a visual of where the head sits compared to the tool itself. I use one for every cartridge I load for, but more to simply check the round at the end of the reloading process. For measuring the shoulder bump and setting up a new die, I like the insert style that go on a caliper (Hornady, Sinclair, etc).

The Hornady will not give you accurate measurements of true headspace, but it will give you accurate measurements of how much you have nudged the shoulder.

For the 240 Weatherby, use either the .330" or .350" bushings.

I don't reload for that caliber but in the absence of the Hornady tool you should be able to use a deprimed 9mm, 357, or 38 casing for measuring shoulder length.

It is very easy to see the amount of bump with the Redding Instant Indicator. But you need one for each caliber. I would call Redding and ask them about the Weatherby.

I've tried many and settled on the Innovative Technologies Digital Headspace Gauge by Larry Willis: http://www.larrywillis.com/ Second item down on the page.

It's very consistent and accurate because human force [which can vary considerably] doesn't apply the measuring pressure.

Outdoorsman thats the one I us also, but have one made from every manufacturer in the country. But having one made from the reamer your rifle is chambered with is nice. But with the Weatherby Having a radius shoulder you might be better of with Innovation tool!
