Need a starting load for a 280 RCBS

Limited selection but want to get my brother shooting his new rifle before season.

280 RCBS
154 gr hornady sst

I have IMR4350.

Nice conservative load to start. Will do more load development after season. So half minute of deer...lol

Consult Nosler manual on 280 Remington. Compare shoulder length from bolt face, adjust loads.

4350's, R#19 on 140-150g, IMR 7828 on 160-162g(fed 210)

Fred Huntington was a good friend of my great uncles (custom gunsmiths) back in the day. Fred would come out to Colorado and hunt elk with them every year. Fred Barnes was also part of the group. They built a number of 7-06AI rifles. I have one and use 280 Remington load data as a starting point. May have to dig out my Ackley manuals and see what he says about the round.

Going from a memory that's not as good as it once was, I believe the RCBS improved case was a 28* shoulder rather than the 40* Ackley shoulder.

The original question needs more information to get a proper answer.

Found this on cartridgecollector.net

The 280 RCBS is basically the Fred Huntington version of the 280 Ackley Improved, but with a 30° shoulder, whereas the 280 Ackley has a 40° shoulder.

I have a load, but for 180gr bergers. 4831SC, can't recall charge w/o looking. I use the 280 RCBS for an F-class rig, and plan to do another for a hunting rifle when i get around to buying a new barrel.
