Need a Rem 870 barrel

So I SBSd an Rem 870 barrel.

Now I'm having trouble finding a 'smith who can thread the inside of the barrel for chokes. I've got one guy who would try but it might ruin the barrel.

So I'm thinking about getting another barrel ... I'm looking for something of the same vintage but I'm wondering if any Remington 870 Barrel will fit.

Any collective wisdom for me ?

Remington did change the barrel for the 870 at some point. The difference being the older barrels use a ball detent under the magazine cap to retain the barrel, the newer ones cheaped up and use a serrated plastic piece that fits in the end of the magazine tube. The switch happened about the same time they also switched to plastic trigger housings.

I have threaded many shotgun barrels for chokes, although I don’t do them anymore.
The outside diameter of the barrel must be .820 or larger.

If you’re trying to get it in rem choke pattern that’s most likely the problem
Most shotgun barrels are not a straight tube, they’re flared on the end to get the OD needed
Get it done in the tru choke pattern , needs less od, tubes are not hard to find
