Necks getting fatter, how often do you check? How often do you turn again?

I return necks about every 6 loadings, more or less. Except brand new brass after the first 3 or 4. What puzzles me is some you get dust while others I shake my head and say, where did that come from. It keeps seating pressure even which is how I figured out it needed done to start with.

Is most of the 'new' brass being removed just at the base of the neck, or elsewhere?

You sure its not just the case mouth? I recently found couldn’t chamber 5-6 x BRA brass and realized it was the rim of the mouth. Wet tumbling the brass caused peening which showed up on the rim when run through an expander.

Had to turn a few thousand off the mouth.

Just a thought.

yes, I checked that.
I only tumble about once a year and in corncob material. The middle of the case neck in a solid .014" on about 1/2 the cases. All have grown, obviously, some more than others.

Never ran into the OP’s problem
Turn the outside once. Other than the mandrel and turning the outside . The inside remains untouched, maybe one pass with a nylon brush to clean any media off. Deburring is a one time only when brand new. Chamfer once and then only after necessary trimming. Targets are to my pleasing.
I’ll only bump a shoulder if necessary not as a routine at all. Fused it’s all old school but no reason to change.

Yeah I use bump dies and bushing neck dies. All cartridge necks turned and never had a neck thicken.
That's why I asked about heavy FL sizing. The brass had to be rolled upward into necks.
