necking up 6.5-284 brass

i’ve got my first box of 6.5-284 lapua brass to be converted into 284 Winchester and my question is would it be better to neck up to 7mm In two stages something like 270 first and then 284 or just go for it and neck up with the 284 mandrel and one pass

I always do it in one pass and have never had a problem. Use some lube inside the neck and you will be good to go.

Just be sure the neck starts onto the mandrel good before you bear down on the press handle or you can easily crush a few necks in... Also, be sure to keep things lubed up nicely. If you are like me, I hate having that one piece of brass missing in my 100 count ammo box...

I recently necked up 100 6.5-284 to 284 using K&M mandrel and imperial sizing lube. Measured runout .001-.0005
