Necking 6.5x284 into 284 win process.

for altering Lapua 6.5x284 brass into 284 win 7mm, could i use a 284 win redding comp neck size die with various bushings to reach 7mm size, ifso what bushing sizes would i need to neck brass to 7mm, thanks.

To neck the case UP from 6.5 to 7mm, you will need an expander mandrel. You could either screw a 7mm expander into your 6.5x284 FLS die, or you could buy a 7mm expander mandrel and holder from Sinclair International. This will expand the neck UP to 7mm.
Once you expand the neck, seat a bullet and measure the neck size. Get a neck bushing .003" under the loaded neck measurement.

I use the Sinclair expander mandrel. It works very well!

Would it be possible to use a redding comp 308 neck size die with correct bushing size to neck size the necked up 284 brass.

No, the shoulder diameter is to small and shoulder angle to shallow on the 308 die

Thanks, Gathering info with the 284 hoping to start build in few months to shoot f open in Ireland and hopefully one day make the National team.
