Neck Turning Case neck lube?

What products/lube do you use and like inside case necks when neck turning and how do you remove it when finished?

thanks all

Pma sells a good oil. Some use stp and so on. I tried sizing wax and it works for hand turning. Q-tips and alcohol.

I don't know specifically about INSIDE neck turning.. However, I turn the outside and use 1.) a carbide mandrel and 2.) Imperial Sizing Die wax... Between the carbide mandrel and the wax, I never experience problems. Buy as I said, that is for outside turning..

Thanks much guys...I meant outside neck turning but didn't word it very well...I was just looking for lube ideas for the mandrel that goes inside the neck while outside neck turning. It sounds like Imperial die wax could work and maybe STP. How do you remove it if I may ask after turning is finished.
Thanks again.

I place a little bit of this on the mandrel, then I tumble in dry media after I finish turning the necks. and i turn ALOT of brass.

I do like TimP but use regular old case lube on the mandrel then run em through the ultra sonic cleaner......all is well after that. :)

Royal Case Lube from Sharp shootR products, the Wipe out people. You can wipe it off or throw it in a tumbler for a little while. Comes right off.

Lee Sizing lube in the tube.......

It is a water base. Put a dab on the mandrel, then a dab inside the case neck with a q tip...I have found NO oil based product that will touch it.

Dilute the lee wax 50% and use as a lube making bullets.

I do not worry about removing what is inside the case, just load and shoot.

I turned many thousands of 7.62x39 PMC cases making them into 22 and 6 PPC cases for p. dog shooting, not to mention all the other wild cats.

If you start using a drill press to turn necks or a lathe, you will figure out in a hurry what will gaul the mandrel.

Imperial or Hornady sizing die wax and clean it in the ultrasonic. If you don't have an ultrasonic, just boil them in simple green.

I use a 50/50 mixture of STP and Mobil 1 Synthetic motor oil. Before I remove the case from its rotating fixture, I stick a Q-tip in the neck and shoulder area to clean out any large accumulation of lubricant. It's clean enough for fireforming then.

:rolleyes:a dab of Hornaday sizing lube on your mandrel, run a q tip with imperial dry lube down the neck and if you are taking very much at all off make two passes. I have to turn all of my .222 because I have a tite necked chamber.

Imperial wax lightly applied with a q-tip. Have experimented with Ballistol with success. I know a guy that uses Dawn soap as a lube!
