neck turning after necking down?

hey guys need some advice. i used win 7-08 brass and sized to fit my 260 rem. should i turn the inside and outside now. when i seat the bullet i feel a hard spot it seems and wondered if turning would help. i am using redding full length type s dies. also whats my best option for the tools needed as i have none for this. thanks

I have tried different approaches to both necking up and down and I like to use a Wilson Inside neck reamer ground to the diameter pf my neckturner pilot to clean up the inside of the necks before I neckturn. I end up with more uniform neckwall thickness when I do it that way. These reamers remove very little metal except if there is a donut and follow the axis of the neck closely so they do not seem to introduce any runout. I would also use the inside reamer with a no-turn neck but I would grind it 0.0005 smaller than the expander mandrel used to either expand the necks up or uniform the inside of the necks after necking down. I've necked 30 cal and 8mm down to 7mm and 6.5mm up to 7mm, along with shortening some case bodies, using this method.

Best (easiest) option is buy 260 brass (Lapua now makes .260 brass). If you have a tight chamber (or just want a consistent neck) I use K&M cutters. There are several good cutters (Sinclair, 21st Century, Pumpkin) but make sure you use the same brand expander as you do cutter. A 6.5 cutter is not always a 6.5 diameter.

+1 on the expanders. If you are going to neck turn, use the expander mandrel made by the same company as the turner for caliber.

I use Winchester 7-08 and neck it down to 260 and i really like the results. I also turn the necks with a Marquart that has a K&M pilot in it, i really have to shove the case all the way onto the pilot but i have had no problems at all once finished.
