Neck turner mounted on case trimmer lathe.

Hmm. I found clapping the cutter in my barrel vice and turning the case with a hand tool gives me the most consistent even cut. Can't see why you'd need to have both ends flexible. When I hold both tools my necks come out all different sizes. But then maybe it is a feel thing and I could never seat primers by feel either. But then again I know a lot of guys that swear they get the best cases by using a lathe.

I am not new to lathe work and machining so I too was very skeptical about being able to get things lined up properly. It was a nice surprise to observe how little fitting work it took to try the idea out. The lack of float in the system was a concern. It makes all the difference in results when the case neck is started up the mandrel before tightening the holder. The Redding case holder design is probably why this whole idea has a chance of working. It blew my socks off when I discovered that it actually works. I can't explain why it does
so well. Maybe the alignment is good enough and the Redding holder forgiving enough that official floating is not required.

Just a closing note that the RCBS turner takes up a lot of room between the end stocks of the Redding lathe. The arrangement pictured in my original post will work for 223 and 6BR but there is no garantee that a longer or fatter case can be accomodated without additional fitting work.
