neck turner cutter angle?

@TrxR the 243 to 308 mandrel will work just fine.... 1 suggestion.... use the same brand expander mandrel as you use turning mandrel. do not mixed the brands..... there are slight differences (sizes) between the two.

Thanks. One last question though . Do you use a tube mic and which one?

I will offer my dos centavos.

I find it hard to calibrate a mic, especially the digital versions, to an absolute value. Here's a technique that works for me.

1) Zero the mic with a bullet.
2) Seat the bullet in the stick of brass you turned.
3) Mic the neck of the loaded case.
4) That number, divided by 2, is your neck thickness.

I find it more accurate to use the mic as a comparator rather than a measure of absolute value. And you don't need to buy a separate tube mic. Good luck!

I use the Sinclair ball mic mount with a Mitutoyo IP54 micrometer. It's just what I started with, and I have replaced the mic a couple of times over the 10 years I have been doing this. I use little rubber washers for leveling the brass to the mic. When I do shorter necked brass (ppc) I add 1 more washer on top of the existing stack.
