That makes too much sense. Would never work.I just wonder why someone has not just rigged up a load cell device that that you could sit beneath the die on a arbor press and connect to a phone via bluetooth to store the data for a spreadsheet or graphing program
Or on the handle of the press itself - this thread ought to get some gears turning
Now that's some red neck engineering! These silly methods never work, below the duct tape rips and then the string breaks before I get the desired neck tension or seating force.

Looks like you can buy a 50 kg load cell for 5 bucks. What would you need to read it?
I like putting a chicken egg between the shell holder and case, run the handle up either I get the right tension or I get to clean up the mess. These silly methods never work, below the duct tape rips and then the string breaks before I get the desired neck tension or seating force.

Last February at the Berger match there was someone selling arbor presses with a hydro gauge mounted at the base. It took readings from pressure under the die as your suggesting.I just wonder why someone has not just rigged up a load cell device that that you could sit beneath the die on a arbor press and connect to a phone via bluetooth to store the data for a spreadsheet or graphing program

That I never thought about ..........lolThere is nothing worse than making a mistake when reloading and ending up with egg on your face.
With the compound leverage of a link in a press, it would be about impossible. You cannot feel bullet seating with a regular press. I argued with a guy about that and left him pull the handle on an arbor press and seat a bullet. His eyes about popped out his head when he pulled the handle. He ordered one the next day. MattI am one of those fellas and use Forster coax for 6br. I “ feel” the neck tension when pushing bullet in case and sort by feel. Turn necks to clean up and Rifle shoots great but not one small hole and i like the idea of a gauge to measure pressure when seating and have always wanted to ask does such a tool exist for Forster ?? One day i will play with 6 ppc and have all the good toys even if it’s just for bragging rights but until then is there a gauge for seating pressure without using arbor press ?
and if I wanted to know how much bullet hold the neck has I would go straight to measuring bullet hold in pounds. Again I have tension gages, not a problem for me but none of my tension gages measure in tensions.
