thanks...I will try thatPlug (pin) gauges work great. A holder handle is nice so you can get a better feel for it.-Al
good idea-thanksSmall thread protectors---roughly 1/4" size at local hdw store make good handles.

Fired case? Depending on what it's chambered for,(ie 30 BR or 6PPC), you could fire a case with pistol powder and NO bullet method. What is best way to get an estimate of neck diameter in a chamber besides chamber casting (without removing the barrel)?
Does not have to be exact--maybe +/- a thousandth...this is a short case on short action.
Plug gauges?
yeah i have measured a few....i think i got a tight neck reamer, was pretty sure it was supposed to be a no neck turn reamer, not sure if the print that i have is what was used in my chamber, so i wanted to verify the quickest way. thanks!Fired case? does that expand to fit the hole? then pull it out and measure the ball? thanks!---never seen those...
want to rent me "b" and "c" for a few days for a small fee????
will do thanks againYep...those small hole gauge sets work well, too. I've got an inexpensive set of half-ball Shars...they work fine and are repeatable when measured with a quality .0001 micrometer.
Having gauge pins, they're what I grab first. -Al
have you fired any rounds in it?What is best way to get an estimate of neck diameter in a chamber besides chamber casting (without removing the barrel)?

yep. measures tight.have you fired any rounds in it?
or do you have any fired brass?
got it. thanks! You can measure the FB of the reamer to within a few tenths. Lightly rotate opposite the way of the cutting edges with calipers. Do it three places. At one of them the flutes will be opposite each other. You're just trying to expand the caliper a thou or so.
Ok maybe i have the dexterity to get it done...im kinda clumsy, probably drop the reamer and the calipers...better get my glasses...I actually apply a little opening pressure to reduce the pressure on the cutting edge.
