neck clearance best practice?

I have three rifles with necks tight enough to require that I turn necks. I didn't chamber them this way because I wanted a tight neck, but rather they were the reamers availible at the time I wanted the chambers cut. One rifle is a 6.5 Saum hunting rifle. I'm using R-P .300 SAUM cases to start with, so there's a fair amount of work to do here. As this is a 8.5lb hunting rifle, and won't shoot many groups once load development is complete, I'm guessing a bit more, rather than less clearance is the best idea? Say 0.004-5"?

The other two rifles are a .22 br with .250" neck, and a 6br with ,268" neck. These are range toys, so I'm thinking 0.003" is about right?

I use .002 on my 6.5 284. 292 neck, I turn them to 290. I have never had a problem. But I clean about every 5 rds. I dont have to size them at all. New primer powder and seat a bullet with the wilson die.
It has.001 neck tension. I only reload the brass 5x. It takes a lot of work to prepare brass for that gun.

Ingrnge,
I’m sorry but I’m having trouble following your math?.... your giving yourself.002 clearance and still have neck tension enough on fired brass to re-seat a bullet without sizing?.... I remember back in the ppc days with a .0005 clearance being able to do that however I found better accuracy when I gave myself more clearance

I use pretty conservative loads. .001 a side is enough that the brass does not expand much. I have noticed after a few firings the necks get a bit thicker. ( Was told the brass flows forward??) I measure with mics and gauge pins. I measured the od after 5 shots. .0007 bigger, which is why I only use the brass 5x. Id is still .2635 but if you cut the neck again it has no tension. (Pull the bullet with your fingers)
I dont know if varmit al still has it posted, I learned how to make the no resize necks from his research.
