Neck Bushing 6.5

What size neck bushing does a guy need for a 6.5x47 Lapua? It is a going to be a no turn neck and only going to require .001-.002" of tension?

Depending upon what brass you will use.....you'll probably have to T&E a bit to find which one you use!!

Measure a loaded round and order a bushing that will be .002 under the loaded round measurement . I would also buy a couple smaller till you see how much springback you get after sizing the neck. When I size in the beginning I measure the inside of the neck to see what kind of neck tension will be the result of using the bushing. There are maybe slight variations with no turn necks also. 6br's started at .272 and then .2715,then .271,and now .2705 seems to work real well with the new blue box lapua brass.

Thank you gentleman. We are trying to get an idea before he orders the dies. He wants to know what the bushing size might be.

Also....you DO NOT WANT an expander button on your decapping pin!! Your resize die will have one so remove and use a threaded collar without the expander button to hold your decapping pin in place! ;D

I just use my .223 expander ball ;)

That'll work!

Sometimes you kinda have to use one when you de-cap.... if you have a mouth that is not true. The expander ball is useful to open the necks before trimming and chamfering. It does no good to trim and chamfer an untrue neck.

The ideal case would be to get a slightly undersized expander ball from RCBS- say a 0.260". My .257 Wby mag expander ball is just a bit too small to be useful :'(
