The Del Bishop Memorial match was held on August 5-6, 2023 at the Tacoma Rifle and Revolver Club. The course of fire was 100/200 yards 5-shot groups on Saturday and Sunday in the Sporter (SP) and Light Varmint (LV) classes respectively. The temperature was mild in the high 60s to high 70s. There was cloud coverage during most of the shooting which tempered the mirage. The wind was very tame with many lulls and periodic mild, persistent, and consistent winds. There was a good showing with shooters arriving from Oregon and all over Washington.
In the SP class, Larry Boers shined bright at 100 yards. He shot a range record .1560 aggregate and had the smallest group with a .103! Jeff Crose took second with a .1892 and Bryan Zolnikov was in third with a .2384. At 200 yards, Bryan Zolnikov poured a little water on Larry’s fire and took first with a .2100 and the smallest group with a .192. Larry Boers took second with a .2355 and Super Jeff Crose took third with a .2387.
In the LV class, Eldon Yarburough shot small at 100 yards. He shot the smallest group (.096) and was the only shooter with a teen aggregate at 100 yards with a .1994. Bill Rice took second with a .2132 and Bryan Zolnikov took third with a .2232. At 200 yards, Bryan Zolnikov struck again and took first with a .2492 while Darrel House took second with a .2530 and Eric Stanton took third with a .2628.
