National Doggie Day

OK, I'm in. I'm sad to hear just how many of us have just lost dogs, or as in my case are soon going to. My old buddy is still with us, but I fear not for long. He's almost 15 years old, and can barely see or hear, or walk. He can still wag though.
I don't know how many feral cats this guy has killed out behind the house, but he's made friends with our new yeller one.

There's been a lot of love and happy times with this fella for the last fifteen years, and I'm working to deal with what I know is coming.

About a week ago, I put a deposit down on a puppy of the same breed. If all goes well, we'll be able to bring a pup home in December. I can only hope that the old Gundog is still around to welcome her. jd

Reminds me of my sister’s dog Oliver. The right end of the couch is his spot. One day he wanted to sit there while my brother in law was sitting there. BIL told Oliver to go lay down. He did. After a few minutes, he got up and rang a bell by the back door; their signal that they need to go outside. BIL got up to open the door and Oliver hauled ass to the couch to claim his spot.

Once he gets the pup squared away he can take a day off.

My personal favorite is when ya come home and they act like Mom kicked um.
So ya play along and they think they’re all hotshot and special

Im told that August 26 was National Dog Day so I thought about my little buddy ( Dickens) that didn’t make it back from Montana a couple months ago.
It’s amazing how much we care about these guys and how empty we feel when they’re gone.

J
just saw this-- Very sorry for your Loss J

It was over a year ago, I was in a parking lot, and saw a very cute little wirehair pup in a pick-up. I had to go talk to the kid who was sitting with it, and he told me it was his uncles. When Unk showed up, he told me who he'd bought the pup from, and I gave her a call. She had no more pups, but told me she'd keep me in mind if anything came up.

Fast forward up to a week ago. I had completely forgot about the whole incident, when she called me. She was breeding her bitch, and wondered if I was still interested. I believe that God sends the right things our way, and I sent her a deposit the next day.

This is mama.

I'm gonna be patient, and wait for things to happen, but in any case, I already feel better about having another buddy on the way to replace my current irreplaceable Gunner. jd

This is Hank”
He lives next door at the Daughters house so I get to hang with Hank when we’re in MT.
It’s hard to tell where his head stops and the neck starts

So sorry to hear about your loss. Dogs are better than people, and I will stand behind that statement until the day I die. Sadly, I will probably be losing my girl soon. She's only 3 years old and the vets can't figure out what's wrong. 80% chance that $800 of tests will diagnose the problem, followed by a 50% chance that they can fix it. Then $1200 for the surgery. I can't afford that, so all I can do is wait and hope.

This is Chloe, nickname 'Lightning'. She has two speeds . . . slow and squirrel.

The dog is the most noble animal on the planet. We have a lot to learn from them.20190426_131416.jpg 20190514_142221.jpg

I’ll bet your dog has friends who could help with her surgery.

Thank you all for your support. I really don't want to hijack this thread from someone who has suffered a loss. If it is worth continuing the conversation, then we should start a new thread to respect the OP. That being said, I have never felt comfortable taking money from others. Peyton's situation is complicated, and even spending $2,000 might not be a permanent fix. The generosity from members of this forum never ceases to amaze me. I am a dog lover, but also a realist.

No worries on my end, this thread was intended for all dog lovers.

On a side note google
Dr. Martin Goldstein’ a special vet who’s helped many people with their pets.
