They show items in stock and allow the order and charge the card$. Then after waiting an eternity they say they don't know what happened ?? None in stock. Have a nice day. Too bad so sad! We will process your refund when we have time. Can't say when ?? Be patient ! So now i have to go to the credit union to see if they can force them to refund the $. They claim secure checkout but it sure doesn't seem secure to me. I will see about contacting their card processer about unscrupulous practice's. Not refunding in a timely manner.

The BBB (Better Business Bureau) seems to get their attention pretty well, when they try to drag feet on refunding.

And there is a spot for not only your complaint to be entered and addressed by a BBB person who actually contacts them, but a spot to put your experiences with the organization being addressed for their poor service.
 
BBB is goood leverage.
Another purveyor, yrs ago,
my experience has been "Oh gee, we did drop the ball" Then some soft shoe and tap dancing w a quick solution in place so they look like they "got right on it" after they fired the culprit, burned his house and boiled him in oil." Figuratively speaking of course.
 
I do not want to jump on any badmouth bandwagon here but they did a textbook bait and switch on me once before. I swore them off but last year they had a scope that was discontinued and was not to be found anywhere else, they put out a flyer 20% off 3 hours after I placed the order. My order hadn't shipped yet ( not for another 2 days). I called to ask for them to apply the discount, they refused.
Anyone, and I mean anyone else would have honored their add. Especially so soon after placing the order.
 
Optics Planet got me like that once. ONCE. Showed in stock, on sale. Placed order and a week later got a backorder notice. 3 months later the item showed up
 
I have not had any issues with them other than how long it takes to receive orders. That said I order from them maybe once every 3-6 years when no one one else has it not even ebay. I have just always gotten a bad vibe from them even though I have never had an issue as odd as that might sound.

You know, I have bought a lot of stuff from them over the years. Never a problem up to this last order. Ordered a pretty good size order on the 12th of Aug. No word yet on anything. Will get my credit card statement next week and see what is going on. They may be in trouble.... John
 
This incident happened just before Covid-19.....Catalog
came in the mail and showed the newest Rock Chucker
Supreme touting the larger opening. Cat said $ 129. I
had a feeling that this was a mistake. I called direct, and
gave the Cat and page number, and would like to order.
Girl on the other end said the price was miss marked and
should have said $139. $139 was still a pretty good deal
until she gave me the shipping costs. 5 minutes later I
bought one from Mid South.....;)

Fuj you did it right. We as customers are the decision maker for ourselves. Cast your vote by where you spend your money.....and don't go back . And since we are in a shortage of certian items, remember who is now gouging. I won't say a name but I have noticed prices lately from a national supplier who I have used in the past but will no longer use in the future. Don't give me the supply and demand tale to cover up price gouging unless your a liberal.
 
I won't jump on any "One" bandwagon either BUT I've had it happen from several retailers. I don't think it's any "only one" that does it. There are many that do it whether purposefully or they just don't update there online numbers. The 3 Big home improvement box stores are terrible about updating there in stock online info. Many times I've driven 50 miles to pick up what was shown to be in stock only to find out they are out of stock. I think that's the biggest problem. Not to defend those places because it frustrating as Hell. Then it takes a week for your money to return to your account from the refund.
 
Cabela's showed RL26 in stock about a year and a half ago. I purchased 4 lbs. A week later got an email that they were out of stock and order would be filled when it was back in stock. I waited 6 months and emailed asking when was the ETA of it. They gave a future date so I waited. After one year I asked for a refund. Order from enough retailers and you'll find many of them do the same thing.
